His deeply evocative music permeates the film with a depth that previously seemed unattainable. The audience seems to be literally drawn into the film: they experience it from the inside out! A journey into the unconscious that is as marvellous as it is eerie, into the realm of secret fears and desires.
With his spectacular silent film concerts, pianist and composer Stephan Graf v. Bothmer fills theatres and concert halls across five continents and has thrilled over 300,000 guests to date: at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and in the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, as well as in Berlin at the Admiralspalast, the Wintergarten Varieté and Berlin Cathedral, and even at the Rock-Pop Festival at Tempelhof Airport following performances by Björk, Blur and the Pet Shop Boys. Media outlets such as the NEW YORK TIMES have reported on the musician: ‘High drama and standing ovations’ (print edition and online). Divine divas, honourable gentlemen, unscrupulous crooks and eccentric characters are cast in a new light through his music.
The CineTronium is a keyboard setup of immense expressiveness and flexibility that Stephan v. Bothmer developed specifically for his live film music. The modern sounds merge with the film to form a new, downright intoxicating whole. ‘Nosferatu’ is the first and most charismatic Dracula adaptation in film history.
