What do a trombone or a guitar actually sound like up close? What stories can a drum tell? How many different sounds are there in an instrument – and what happens when several of them start playing together?

On 17 October at 11.00 am, the Bibliothek am Wasserturm will be transformed into a small concert hall for 45 minutes. Musicians from the tomatenklang music school will bring along various instruments, play for you and introduce them. You’ll be able to take a close look and listen carefully: how do the instruments work? How are their sounds produced? What gives each one its very own unique sound?

Of course, there’ll be music to listen to too – sometimes played individually, sometimes together. And if you’d like to know anything, feel free to ask. This way, children and adults alike can get up close and personal with the instruments and the people who play them.

A family concert for listening, marvelling and discovering – straightforward, lively and for the whole family.

Featuring: Anton Wunderlich, Ramon Jorek & Vanda Hehr

At tomatenklang, we love making music together. We’re a not-for-profit music school in Berlin that brings children, young people and adults together – in lessons, in bands and ensembles, at workshops, concerts and open sessions. It’s important to us that as many people as possible can discover music and get involved themselves – regardless of previous experience or financial circumstances. Because music is especially fun when you share it.
