Jafunk

If you’re looking for the perfect soundtrack to capture that very special magic that comes from the last rays of sunshine on a long summer’s day, producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Jafunk is exactly the right choice.

According to the Australian-born artist himself, it all began with a cheap DJ set-up and plenty of patience as he experimented at home in Australia. He soon began releasing his first tracks – and over the years, slowly but surely, has built a career that is enjoying international success. No wonder, when you consider that big names such as Diplo, Questlove and Tom Misch are among the fans of his distinctive, soulful voice.

With his signature look – a double-breasted suit and large 70s-style sunglasses – Jafunk looks just as timeless as he sounds in his groovy, feel-good tracks.

He blends dazzling disco elements with soul, funk and jazz, always characterised by a standout bassline taking centre stage. His most successful releases to date include tracks such as “Dazed”, “Back To Life”, “This Thing” and, not to be forgotten, his remix of Set Mo’s “Chasing Forever”, which marked his big breakthrough ten years ago. His discography is also characterised by numerous collaborations with artists including Young Franco, Fabich and Otis Kane, which lend his art an experimental, jam-like quality. The latter can be heard on the single “Move On Up”, which was released recently and offers a first taste of Jafunk’s EP “Golden Hour”, announced for October.

The live shows of the artist, who is now based in Portugal, are characterised above all by their open, ecstatic atmosphere, where a love of music takes centre stage. The infectious danceability found in many of his releases suits Jafunk’s concerts perfectly; as the set progresses, the venue gradually transforms into one huge dancefloor.
