A crime comedy by John Buchan and Alfred Hitchcock
An unexpected evening visitor, a mysterious warning and a death that comes far too suddenly – for Richard Hannay, this marks the start of an adventure that is far less logical than his otherwise well-ordered life. No sooner has he set foot on the first wobbly step than the next one gives way. And before he knows it, he finds himself in the thick of a story in which every detail suddenly seems suspect.

At the heart of all these puzzles lies a mysterious organisation: The 39 Steps. What are they planning? No one knows. What do they set in motion? A wild mix of suspense, chases and surprisingly funny moments. For the line between danger and situational comedy is astonishingly thin here.
‘The 39 Steps’ is a crime comedy brimming with pace, wit and a good dose of irony. A night at the theatre that shows just how quickly supposed certainties can be thrown into doubt – and just how entertaining it can be to get closer to unravelling the unknown.
